Poland is a very old country that has a very turbulent, but rich past, the signs pointing to which still exist in many parts of the country. The population of the country comprises of many ethnicities from different countries and races. Poland’s culture has been affected greatly by the West as well as the east, resulting in a very unique cultural identity. However, Poland is not just history, culture and such; it has a very vibrant geography as well.
There are many mountains like those of the Carpathian in the south, major rivers besides more than 9,300 lakes, predominantly in the north, so there is much to see and do for the inquisitive traveler. Remaining attributes of various forests, forest like Bialowieza, are still there. Polish cuisine is something really enticing. It has emerged as a very viable option for travelers looking for a different experience.
Polish culture has been influenced by both Eastern and Western influences. Such things are felt now in Polish architecture, art and folklore. Poland is also the origin of some world famous individuals, including Pope John Paul II, Marie Curie, Pulaski, Copernicus and Frederic Chopin.
www.addictedtotravel.com has my total gratitude for bringing to my attention this beautiful little country. Without them and their Poland Travel Guide I would have never even thought of going to Poland and discovering its many and varied pleasures! Thanks a lot guys, it’s worth it!!!
